Italian Week is the Official celebration of the Festa della Repubblica, an initiative of the Consulate of Italy in Queensland and Northern Territory, in collaboration with New Realm Media, The Pellegrino Scholarship, Southbank Corporation and is produced by Alessandro Sorbello. It has strong support from the Italian institutions including Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, www.esteri.it the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), the and Australian and the Italian language teaching bodies including Co.As.It Italian Language Centre, The Italian School Committee and the Dante Alighieri Society of Brisbane.
Moreover, the Official Italian Week is a week long experience of food, culture and celebrations, a celebration of a unique nation. Over 2000 years of being at the helm of ancient and modern civilisations thus making it one of the most culturally enriched countries on the planet.
From the catwalks of Milan to the Emerald Beaches of Sardegna, from the relics of Ancient Rome, to the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean, the warmth and excitement of Italy is right here in Brisbane in 2008 when the Italians once again exhibit the best in Italian culture during the now popular Official Italian Week festival, an exhibition of modern day Italy, capturing the flare and excitement of one of the world’s oldest countries through past and present.
