Michael Taylor Leather Masks Exhibition
Michael Taylor (1955) A world-renowned artist and sculptor, is well known for his elaborate sculpted and hand coloured leather masks. Each unique mask takes three to four months to complete. He is represented in galleries in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States and the masks are acquired by collectors, celebrities and museums. Michael also creates public art sculptures. His mother’s family is all from Lucca and his Italian heritage informs his artistic work.

The Four Seasons - The Queensland Orchestra
Special appearance by an ensemble from The Queensland Orchestra – your state orchestra’. The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. Composed in 1723, The Four Seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work, and is among the most popular pieces of Baroque music. The texture of each concerto is varied, each resembling its respective season. For example, "Winter" is peppered with silvery staccato notes from the high strings, calling to mind icy rain, whereas "Summer" evokes a thunderstorm in its final movement.

Italian Week Cup
It is with regret that we advise you that we have to cancel the ‘Italian Week Cup’ which was to be held on Wednesday 27th May. The deluge earlier in the week covered our field with 2 metres of water, as you will see from the attached photos. We have lost some fencing, there is thick debris covering the rest of the fences, our dressing rooms and gym (under the grandstand) were also 1 metre under water, and when waters subsided, left inches of thick mud behind. It is unfortunate, but the field will not be playable by Wednesday. EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER

Born in Gaeta, a beautiful peninsula near the Amalfi Coast, Fatima is a Graduate of the National Academy of Dramatic arts in Rome and is the quintessential Italian Diva, her versatility is apparent as she has studied classical and modern ballet, the waltz, the polka, the flamenco. When singing, Fatima uses several languages including Italian, French, English, and German and can sing and play using the dialects spoken in Naples and Sicily.

Jaider De Oliveira performing at the Opening of Italian Fashion Week
Jaider De Oliveira, singer, producer, performer, guitarist, percussionist, teacher and entertainer. There are not many who can evoke such passion from an inanimate object in the manner Jaider does in such tracks as "Baiao for you" from his first CD "Samba Down Under" Over these last 3 years, Jaider has spent considerable amount of time in Brazil studying and recording, during this time completed his lastest album 'Alegria Instrumental ' which means 'Instrumental happiness' a title that was inspired by relationships he has had with his musician friends and fellow artists. Jaider has teamed up with Roberto Nobilia to create new sounds for Italian Fashion Week.

Roberto Nobilia performing at the Opening of Italian Fashion Week
Australian born Roberto Nobilia Robert has written and recorded many albums, including the work of ‘Stark’ which is the collaboration between himself and musician/producer Lindsay Askew who plays guitar and bass on the many ‘ClubDred Studios’ recordings that span over 8 years. Rather than having been influenced by certain bands or a particular genre, Robert drew inspiration from various modern popular songs that capture the essence of character and emotional tone and that reflect the voice and mood of the times. 18 year old rising star, Zosia Kilmartin, is a classically trained singer. One of the highlights of Zosia’s career, to date, is her recent appearance at the annual Opera on the Mountain open air concert in May. This event featured Zosia along with 10 of Australia’s top opera singers including Andrew Pryor, Romano Dragoni and Katheleen Proctor-Moore.Zosia has also performed The Flower Duet from Lakmé on the Concert Hall Stage of the Queensland Performing Arts Complex. Furthermore, Zosia even sang for Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in his electorate. Zosia's music appears on radio’s 4EB and SBS

16 year old Alex Raineri currently studies piano performance with Leah Horwitz, OAM at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and also studies composition with Gerard Brophy. In November 2008, Alex was awarded a distinction in his ‘Trinity College of London' LTCL exam and the ‘Top of the State’ award. Also in 2008, Alex performed Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' with the Queensland Orchestra in the keyboard finals of the 'ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards'.

Raffaele Pierno is a graduate of the Conservatorium Domenico Cimarosa in Avellino, Southern Italy. Graduated with a Diploma di Canto in 1998. He performed extensively across Italy including Concerts of traditional Neopolitan songs for the Mayor and the Cardinal of Naples in il Duomo di Napoli; tribute to “Enrico Caruso” 1995; “Messa di Gloria of Mascagni” with Lucia Tramontano (official accompanist at Teatro San Carlo).

Dominique has performed with numerous operatic societies in south east Queensland and in the UK. Principal roles include Casilda in The Gondoliers, Angela in Patience, Anna in The Merry Widow, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, The Plaintiff in Trial by Jury, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Guenevere in Camelot, Maisie in The Boyfriend, and Hugette in The Vagabond King. Dominique joined Opera Queensland as a chorus soprano in 1995 and has appeared in numerous concerts and productions. Dominique is currently in rehearsal for La Traviata with Opera Queensland and is looking forward to performing in Fidelio with OQ later in the year. Waiters and waitresses representing Italian restaurants in Queensland will gather in The Queen Street Mall to compete in a relay race with a difference—the runners have to carry glasses of wine on a tray without spilling a drop.The waiters’ race, or Corsa dei Camerieri in Italian, is one event of the Tastes of Italy to be held over the weekend. Marco Evans grew up in a very musical household. His grandmother, father and his aunt are all singers, musicians and performers. Marco is multifaceted; he is foremost, a singer/songwriter/producer working on his debut album.
He is also constantly on call as a singing teacher and vocal coach.
He runs his own recording studio and is currently working with the finest singers and musicians in the country.

Lisa Hunt began singing in that great African American tradition, the gospel church, there was laid the foundation of her soulful singing style. In Italy she has been the featured vocalist on tour and recordings of ZUCCHERO Sugar Fornaciari for over 15 years and has worked with a range of artist from Andrea Bocelli, and Luciano Pavarotti.
