Italian Week cultural Partner Radio 4MBS The Verdi Requiem is one of the most thrilling and exciting choral works – a setting that is operatic in its approach. Most reviewers say that about the work, but it is only when you are seated in the concert hall with the orchestra and choir blazing away and the soloists soaring over the orchestra that it really hits you. It’s a remarkable achievement by a composer who had no strong religious beliefs – to create a setting of the Requiem which is truly inspiring.
