Celebrate Italian culture with the delicate beauty and elegance of strings with Mandolins in Brisbane playing favourites like Santa Lucia, O Sole Mio and Funiculi Funicula. Mandolins in Brisbane (MIB) is Queensland’s foremost mandolin and guitar ensemble. It comprises of two playing groups, the Queensland Mandolin Ensemble (QME) and Brisbane Mandolins. Founded in Brisbane, Queensland in 1998, Mandolins In Brisbane plays a varied repertoire from renaissance to contemporary.


Both playing groups not only continue the well established traditions of mandolin music founded in Italy, but also performs classical, folk, bluegrass and popular music from across the globe. Brisbane Mandolins is conducted by classical guitarist and musical director, Joel Woods. The Queensland Mandolin Ensemble is lead by principal first mandolin player and group leader Marissa Carroll.
