Dolci Sapori

Dolci SaporiDescription

Dolci Sapori evolved over a cup of coffee discussing Brisbane’s food and hospitality industry. At that time, recently migrated from Italy, and noted the lack of an authentic Italian pasticceria.

We noted there was no place to experience a typical Italian breakfast: an on-the-run espresso with a freshly baked pastry to find out last nights soccer results. We highlighted that the ‘missing ingredient was a cafe that had a true identity rather than one that tried to be all things to all people.

From that simple cup of coffee Dolci Sapori was born.

La Pasticceria is the Italian pastry shop. You can go early in the morning for a nice pastry (some serve coffee as well--often called a Bar/Pasticceria) or in the afternoon for a sweet.

If you need to buy someone in Italy a gift to repay a small kindness, often a small tray of assorted pastries or biscotti (cookies) from a good Pasticceria may be appropriate.

Pastries are sold by the kilogram if they are small. Ask for un etto, or a tenth of a kilogram, to get about a quarter pound of goodies.

We had no trouble coming up with a menu - just provide a good product that would bring people to see, taste, smell and experience a real Italian ambience, without the expense of flying to Italy. However, coming up with a name for the business was another matter! Eventually we decided to appeal to the senses: dolci meaning sweet, for the sweet tastes and life; and sapori meaning flavours, of which there are many on offer.

Homemade Italian desserts, pastries, baked goods, and breads. From sfogiatelles (an Italian breakfast pastry) to canoli, (an Italian dessert in a fried shell with a sweet ricotta cheese filling) we serve it all.

Clayfield opened for trading in 2001 and has attracted a loyal following from all parts of Brisbane. And then there are those who stop in on their way to the airport to collect a box of sweets to take home. It was here that customers discovered the custom of brioche and granita for breakfast, arancini for a savoury snack, ricotta cannoli with your coffee, and ordering a gift box of biscuits a mixed tray pastries or a birthday cake.
