Queensland gears up to paint the town green, white and red for Italian Week 2013
Delicious food, fine dramatic performances and wondrous workshops will light up the river city and Sunshine State inviting you to ‘engage your emotions’ for the seventh annual Italian Week Festival this May.
Running from May 26 and until June 2, Italian Week will take Queensland residents on an authentic cultural journey through a range of free and ticketed activities and events.
The event offered a special chance to embrace and celebrate the rich history of Italy without an airplane ticket.
This year, the theme for Italian Week 2013 is ‘engage your emotions’.
We want to give Brisbane the opportunity to form a connection to this wonderful country through the many delightful culinary, historical and dramatic elements of Italian culture.

“We’ve tailored our schedule to appeal to a range of wide and varied interests and we hope that locals will find something that illuminates their imagination” as the city is once again lit up in the Italian national colours of green, white and red.
Headlining the Italian Week celebrations are a range of mouth-watering cooking classes to experience the true taste of Italy.
The “Art of Making Pasta” Master Class will delight taste buds in Fortitude Valley on May 26, while aspiring chefs can earn their stripes at the “Burrata Master” lesson at Bucci in James Street on May 27 and a Master Class at New Farm Ristorante Dell ‘Ugo on June 1, 2013.
History buffs will get their fix at the fascinating “Italian Presence in Queensland” exhibition at the Royal Historical Society of Queensland, while culture vultures can shake their tail feathers at the Pizzica dance workshop.
Music features strongly once again as a key generator of emotions and the opening concert event of Italian Week celebrates Giuseppe Verdi’s 200th anniversary with Verdi’s Requiem will see over 200 performers onstage and will feature Australia’s tenor Rosario La Spina in Brisbane’s newly refurbished City Hall and conducted by Antoni Bonetti.
