Jodie-Anne White ~ Choreographer

Jodie was born in Melbourne where she studied classical and contemporary dance, acting and mime; from the very beginning Jodie has won numerous prizes in several disciplines.

Jodie continued her studies with teachers and institutions such as Kathleen Gorham National Theatre, Victorian College of the Arts and National Ballet School in Australia. Before finishing her studies in 1987 Jodie was invited to join the Corp the Ballet of the Australian Ballet where she continued to work till 1991 under the directorship of Maina Gielgud. Jodie took part in tours through China, Japan, Russia, Greece, UK and USA dancing in famous theatres such as The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden London at a Gala in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II; The Kirov Theatre in Russia as well as The Metropolitan Opera House di New York.

As a soloist Jodie decided to continue her career overseas, first in London and later in Czech Republic and Germany. From 1998 to 2001 Jodie was invited as principal dancer by Balletto del Sud (Lecce, Italy) and by the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste, Italy. Jodie has worked with famous choreographers such as Kenneth McMillian, Maurice Bejart, Michael Barishnikov and Jiri Kylian. Upon her return to Australia Jodie was invited as ballet mistress by Expressions Dance Company. Jodie has worked in co-operation with Queensland Ballet and Queensland Arts Council (QAC) at the production and staging of an education program which has successfully toured throughout Queensland schools.

Jodie has also co-produced and staged original works for Woodford Folk Festival and has presented seminars for teachers and cultural operators in universities (QUT) as well as State and private schools. Since 2002 Boris has been the artistic Director of Ballet Theatre of Queensland (BTQ) the State Youth Dance Company in QLD with which he has already staged four new productions at the Playhouse (QPAC) in Brisbane including Pinocchio in 2006. Jodie combines her passion for dance with theatre and she is currently completing a BA in Theatre and Communication at University of New England (UNE).

Cav. Stephen J. Pellegrino, in conjunction with the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane, is offering also for the year 2010 a scholarship to Australian citizens and Italian citizens permanently residing in Queensland. As commonly known, from 2007 the scholarship privileges Italian and Australian musicians and takes place within the Italian Week, the official celebration of the Italian National Day.
